GFWC/CT Photography Contest! Final for 2024 PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST RULES

PHOTOGRAPHS FOR STATE JUDGING:

• Photographs may be vertical/portrait or horizontal/landscape.

• Photographs must be the original work of the member submitting the photograph.

• Each photograph must be an 8 X 10-inch print. • All photographs must be mounted on a rigid 8 X 10-inch board and overall thickness may not exceed 3/8 inch. No mattes, frames, or hangers are to be included.

• Photographs may be taken using film or with digital cameras and may be color or black and white. •

Printed photographs will not be returned.

• Each photograph must have a label affixed to its back with the following information:

• Contest name: World in Pictures with category or GFWC Living the Volunteer Spirit • Photographer’s Name, Email Address, Mailing Address, and Phone Number

• Name and State of the sponsoring club

• Title and a brief caption giving location, date, and other pertinent information about the photograph

• Arrow indicating the top of the photograph

Walking Contest!

GFWC-CT-Annual Sheila Macauley Memorial Walking Contest:

At the May Convention 2023 this motion was made to honor Sheila Macauley and her passion for Health & Wellness!

Health and Wellness: President Kathy DeBurra spoke on behalf of Sheila Macauley, Health and Wellness State Chairman, 2022-2024. In remembrance of Sheila’s dedication, a motion was made by Kathy Aiello to “rename” the GFWC/CT Walking/Exercise Challenge to the “Sheila Macauley Annual Memorial GFWC/CT Walking/Exercise Challenge”. The motion was seconded by Wendy Clery and approved unanimously. The entire room stood in honor of Sheila including the guests who were moved by this action. Awards of the contest were announced and presented.

Sara Newell has volunteered to fulfill the honor of Health & Wellness Chairman to honor her WC Sister and friend! GFWC/CT is grateful to SARA and thanks her for the kindness and sponsoring the first Sheila Macauley Annual Memorial GFWC/CT Walking/Exercise Challenge!

National Day of Service project ideas…The Women’s Club of Madison: FoodSHELFin.CT

The Woman’s Club of Enfield: The Woman’s Club of Enfield is participating on September 30, 2023 in this project: They are partnering with the Enfield Food Shelf. Members will donate food and some clothing that will be put into gallon bags to give to police. The Bags will be put done at the Food Shelf on the 30th. The police will give these bags to the homeless in Enfield.

Harwinton’s New War Memorial – Dedication 19 October 2024

Several members of the Harwinton Woman’s Club attended the dedication of the new War Memorial. The pictures here were taken at the dedication of Harwinton’s new Veterans War Memorial on 19 October 2024. The memorial, which is located on the Town Green, replaces the old memorial which has been moved to the green between the Town Hall and Library. The old memorial honored Harwinton veterans that served during WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The new memorial covers all wars in which Harwinton veterans served from the French and Indian war to the War on Terror.
