2010-2012
state project: Food Bank and FoodShare |
Description |
The state project for 2010 to 2012 is the Connecticut Food Bank and
FoodShare.
Connecticut Food Bank, the largest centralized source of emergency
food in Connecticut, serves 650 food pantries, soup kitchens,
shelters, and low-income child and adult day programs in six of
Connecticut’s eight counties: Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New
Haven, New London and Windham.
FoodShare is the heart of greater Hartford’s fight against hunger,
bringing together individuals and organizations to end hunger in all
forty two towns of Hartford and Tolland counties.
Both Connecticut Food Bank and FoodShare are members of Feeding
America, the nation’s network of food banks.

Holiday Call Out |
Dear Women's Club members,
Thanksgiving is around the corner. As we make plans for our holiday dinners with family and friends and give thanks for the food on our tables, please think about the 390, 000 people at risk of hunger in CT who might not be so lucky. These are people from all walks of life-children, working parents, seniors, and people with disabilities. Please consider donating a few hours of your time during the holidays to helping the CT Food Bank and Foodshare collect food and monetary donations. For those who are in the six counties covered by the CT Food Bank, information on Thanksgiving for All and other programs will be sent in emails for those registered on their email list. If you are interested, please send me your email address and I will send the list to the CT Food Bank, or contact the CT Food Bank directly. For those who are in Tolland and Hartford counties, please contact Foodshare online at www.foodshare.org and sign up for Turkey and a Twenty, or contact me and I will arrange to have your club's contact information added to their volunteer list.
Thanks and Best Wishes,
Patty Meglio
